MEA Central Awarded Prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark

We are delighted to share that MEA Central has been officially awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Inclusive School Award, recognising our unwavering commitment to ensuring every student thrives, feels valued, and experiences a fantastic future.

The award followed a rigorous two‑day inspection, during which an experienced IQM assessor carried out an in‑depth review of the school. The assessment involved visiting lessons, observing routines, speaking with students and staff, scrutinising provision for SEND learners, evaluating behaviour systems, and meeting with parents, governors and leaders. Their comprehensive approach ensured that every aspect of school life—from culture and curriculum to care and community—was carefully examined.

Mr Grimes, who led the visit, explained:

“It was a very thorough assessment from a very experienced inspector. They examined all aspects of our school life and spoke to a range of stakeholders.”

During the assessment, the IQM assessor praised the school’s “overwhelming inclusive ethos,” exceptionally strong relationships, and consistently high standards. The report highlighted MEA Central’s belief in “no barriers, no excuses” and commended staff for their relentless focus on achievement, participation and citizenship. They noted that inclusion is truly “woven into every aspect of school life.”

The award celebrates many elements of MEA Central’s practice, including:

  • Outstanding pastoral care and behaviour systems, rooted in predictability, respect and restorative approaches.

  • High‘quality teaching, built on the principle of “teach to the top—no limits, no labels,” ensuring all students access ambitious learning.

  • Strong support for SEND and vulnerable learners, with 90% of students meeting or exceeding expected outcomes through carefully targeted interventions.

  • Excellent attendance, with current Year 11 attendance in the top 1% nationally.

  • Strong relationships with families, supported by our family liaison officer, pastoral and leadership teams, accessible communication and a growing programme of parent events.

  • A vibrant, diverse school community, celebrated through enrichment, cultural events and full access to trips and experiences for all students.

Mrs Reynard, Principal, shared her pride in this achievement:

“We are so proud that the school has achieved this award. It is an excellent achievement for the school community, proving what is possible! We are achieving phenomenal results and outcomes, and this award is for all of the school community. We are looking forward to extending our influence as a Centre of Excellence.”

The assessor also highlighted the pride shown by students, staff and parents, describing MEA Central as “warm, welcoming, and committed to continuous improvement,” with a powerful sense of community felt throughout the school.

We are incredibly proud of this success and grateful for the ongoing support of our students, families and staff. MEA Central has now been encouraged to apply for the prestigious Centre of Excellence status—reflecting the strength of our inclusive practice and our ambition to keep moving forward.

Together, we continue to ensure A Fantastic Future for All.
