Principal’s Message for Week A, wb 1st June 2026
Participation
As we reach the end of Summer 1, I wanted to say a simple thank you for your continued support.
This half term our focus has been Participation and I have been really proud to see students getting involved, contributing and playing their part in school life every day - in lessons, enrichment, leadership and in how they support one another.
A particular well done to Year 11, who have started their exams brilliantly and represented both themselves and the school exceptionally well.
For those celebrating Eid next week, Eid Mubarak! We hope you have a wonderful and peaceful time with your family.
Thank you for everything you do to support your child and our school community. It makes a real difference!
We are looking forward to a brilliant Summer 2 and return to school on Monday 1st June.

Project Central
Students in Year 7 and 8 have been set a creative task to complete over the holidays.
For Year 7 this is to write a poem about a summer day. The timing could not be more perfect with the lovely weather we are due to experience over the holidays.
Year 8 have been asked to design a cookbook page for their favourite recipe. It might be an old family recipe or maybe something they have created themselves.
Paper copies have been handed out but parents can access electronic copies here: Summer
Academic Reading
Students in Year 9 and 10 have been asked to read a newspaper article over the holidays and answer some questions about this. Being able to critically analyse the world around them and what is written in the media is a key skill needed to become a responsible citizen.
Year 9 are reading an article about female footballers overturning a ban on wearing a hijab.
Year 10 are reading an article about the experiences of the ongoing confilct in Gaza. We recognise that this is a sensitive and emotionally charged topic, and that many families within our community will have personal connections and strong feelings.
We are aware that this topic may prompt questions or discussions in class. Our teachers will approach these conversations with care, ensuring they are handled in a safe, respectful and academically focused way. Staff have been encouraged to read the article in advance so they feel fully prepared to support students sensitively.
If you have any questions or concerns about this reading, please feel free to contact us.

Year 9 Weekly update
Dear all,
What a wonderful end of the half term for all of our Year 9s! We are all really proud of the maturity our cohort has shown and cannot wait but get excited about their future and their transition into Key Stage 4.
On Wednesday, we had our Rewards Assembly where we celebrated all of the great things they have achieved this half term. A huge well done to every scholar receiving an award during the assembly and a special shoutout to:
Woodrow, Aryana, Bahia, Finlay, Noah B, Muskan, Isabel, Jalen, Raha, Safwan, Sameena, Tanzeela and Umamah for completing The Scholars Program and finishing their Brilliant Club sessions. Seeing you complete such an academically challenging task is truly inspirational for all of your peers.
Abdul H. (9R) for winning the Pastoral Manager Award
Logan R. (9E) for winning the Head of Year Award
Every scholar in Year 9 should have now received their Academic Reading Project Central, which they have been tasked to complete during the half term break. This is a really interesting article from The Guardian on football and the use of the Hijab. A reminder that outstanding submissions will receive a reward on the first week of Summer 2.
Hope you all have a wonderful week and thank you for your continued support; only one more half term to go!

Year 7 – Ms. S Bryan/Mrs.K Park It has been fantastic to see how our Year 7 students have approached this week. They have truly acted as scholars during Revision Week, showing focus, resilience, and a positive attitude towards preparing for their upcoming assessments.
As we head into the May half-term break, students should continue to revise and consolidate their learning so they feel confident and ready for Big Test Week, commencing Monday 1st June. Core subject test dates are outlined below, and students have recorded their remaining subject assessments in their planners. Please do encourage your child to use these to stay organised over the break.
Our Project Central for this half term has also been launched. Students are tasked with writing a poem using a range of literary devices, inspired by the big ideas of Power, Nature, and Identity. This is a compulsory piece of independent learning, and we look forward to welcoming their completed work on 1st June. This is a great opportunity for students to be creative and showcase their developing skills.
Finally, we would like to remind parents of our absence policy. If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, it is essential that you contact the school each day of absence. This ensures that we can continue to safeguard all students and provide appropriate support where needed.
Thank you for your continued support, and we wish all families a restful and productive half-term break. |

Year 8 – Ms. C Gates
Hi Taylor,
Please find Y8 entry below:
Well done to all Year 8 scholars for a fantastic end to the half term. We have had a wonderful Review Week and seen so many strong examples of students engaging positively with feedback across the curriculum. When we return, we will move into Reflect Week, where students will receive their reports and continue thinking carefully about their progress and next steps. Please help ensure all scholars come back prepared to learn by checking they have their red book, knowledge organiser and planner.
Over the holidays, I would also like to remind families about the importance of online safety, particularly around the use of social media. Many platforms have age restrictions, and it is important that students are using them safely and responsibly. Please continue to monitor usage, encourage positive online behaviour, and have open conversations about staying safe. This will help ensure our scholars return to school ready to learn.
We ended our half term with a Celebration Assembly to recognise the values of citizenship, achievement and participation. A big shoutout to Zoha Rafiq (Head of Year Award) and Mikail Wehliye (Pastoral Manager Award), as well as all those students who still have 100% attendance. A reminder to complete Project Central over the holidays. This time students are designing a recipe spread for a cookbook, and I am really looking forward to seeing their creativity.

Year 10 – Mr C Blackburn Dear Parents and Carers, This week, our focus has been on Year 10 stepping up as the oldest year group in the school. I have been very impressed with the progress made this half term; however, I know there is still more we can achieve as we continue preparing for Year 11. Role Models & School Culture As the most senior students in the building, it is vital that Year 10 act as positive role models. This means moving around the school calmly, with purpose and confidence, setting the standard for younger students to follow. Attendance & Punctuality – Key to Success Attendance must improve as we move into next half term. It is one of the most important factors in determining final GCSE grades and college placements. Students with strong attendance are far more likely to achieve higher grades, as they benefit from consistent teaching, feedback and support.
Summer 2 is the final opportunity for Year 10 to secure strong attendance and punctuality before this data is shared with colleges. Every day truly counts, and we encourage all students to aim for 100% attendance moving forward. Celebrating Success We are proud to recognise the students who have thrived this half term and received Form Tutor Awards:
A huge congratulations also goes to Nevaeh B, who has been awarded the Head of Year Award for an outstanding half term, an incredible achievement. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure Year 10 finish the year strongly and are fully prepared for the challenges ahead. Best wishes,
